Tigers co-captain Jarome Luai has been given permission to leave the joint-venture early as the club looks to free up more than $1 million in salary cap space.
Sources speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the matter have confirmed Luai has the club’s approval to pursue a deal elsewhere in 2027.
Luai is the Tigers highest-earning player on approximately $1.2 million next season, and has signed a contract to join incoming franchise PNG Chiefs in 2028.
With his long-term future locked in elsewhere, the Tigers recently raised the prospect of Luai moving on at the end of the season as the club sorts through its playmaking stocks and an extension for his potential replacement in the halves – Latu Fainu.
More to come.
