BELOVED TV weatherman, Roland Steadham, has been killed in a horror plane crash after the aircraft clipped a power line and plunged into a freezing river.
The small plane struck the line before crashing down onto ice in the water, officials said.
The tragedy happened Tuesday on the Payette River near Emmett, Idaho, as rescuers rushed to the scene in brutal conditions.
The victim was later confirmed as Roland Steadham, 67, the longtime Chief Meteorologist at Boise CBS affiliate CBS2.
The identity of the second man on board has not been released.
Deputies said the crash happened after “preliminary information indicates that a small plane clipped a power line and crashed upon the ice in the river.”

The sheriff’s office said both occupants were fatally injured.
It is still unclear who was at the controls when the aircraft went down.
Online flight data showed the plane took off from Emmett Airport at 10:43 am and lost contact about 12 minutes later.
Investigators have not yet released the aircraft model.
