The Magpies have had a stunning day, storming to a 77-point win over the Bombers – their largest-ever win on Anzac Day. Scott Pendlebury, just shy of the record for most VFL-AFL games, finished with 43 disposals, while Nick Daicos had 42.
Pendlebury, 38, was allowed to roam free for most of the afternoon, and had his way through the midfield and even when pushing forward – winning his fourth Anzac Day Medal.
“He is amazing, he is a freak. I think he gets disrespected by the opposition, they just let him run around,” Daicos said on Fox Footy.
The win has lifted the Magpies’ spirits in a year when they still hope to contend for a flag.
“It was a cakewalk today, they absolutely smashed the Bombers. It was just a procession,” AFL great Garry Lyon said on Fox Footy.
