Essendon might need to lobby the AFL for a mercy rule tonight, like junior sport. But, to be fair, they have had chances to kick a few goals – and continue to fritter them away – and are more competitive than West Coast were last night against Sydney. That isn’t a compliment. The Western Bulldogs are playing with their food a bit here, but still lead by 54 points at half-time – and the electric Arty Jones is providing us with some Easter Sunday entertainment. There is no way for Bombers fans to enjoy tonight, but their Dogs counterparts and neutrals can do so by tracking the always-brilliant Marcus Bontempelli, Sam Darcy, Jones and the impressive Joel Freijah, who has five tackles to go with his 16 disposals. At least Essendon supporters will have a sleep-in and a day off work tomorrow. It’s the little things…
