Hollywood may be known for its glitz and glamour, but it’s New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art that’s home to fashion’s night of nights each year.
You’d be forgiven for thinking the first Monday in May had come five months early, however, and switched coasts. And not because of the stars’ sartorial choices. Rather, it’s because of the steps they now have to ascend to get inside the ballroom.

That’s right, Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton hotel has taken inspiration from Anna Wintour’s perfectly choreographed red carpet, which culminates in a grand staircase flanked by photographers on both sides, flashes at the ready for grand reveals.
But whether the Golden Globes will serve a moment a la Blake Lively in Atelier Versace at the 2022 Met Gala – the actress used the staircase to unveil the full might of her Statue of Liberty-inspired costume – remains to be seen.
The Golden Globes, however, rarely disappoint when it comes to bold moments … it is, after all, known as the boozy rehearsal for the Oscars.
One thing we do know? The staircase, designed to mimic a film reel as it unspools, is not open to non-famous guests. “Don’t worry,” a disappointed guest was told by a staffer, per AP. “There’s a place to get your photo at the end too.”
