Janice and Kevin Hore, owners of home decor, furniture and dining retailer Alfresco Emporium, have put their Collaroy Plateau home of 22 years on the market with a price guide of $10 million.
In 1998, Janice made her retail dream a reality, opening a gift shop in Neutral Bay. The couple have since grown the business with their three children, Linda, Karen and Michael.
There are now stores in NSW and Queensland, with an interior styling service on offer, as stated on the company website.
Records show the couple purchased the six-bedroom, three-bathroom, Hamptons-inspired house with pool for $3.45 million in 2004. The asking price is about three-and-a-half times the suburb’s median house price of $2,815,000, on Domain data.
There is a French provincial marble kitchen, travertine-look tiled floors, a stacked-stone feature wall, cathedral ceilings, white panelled walls, sash windows and plantation shutters.
Entertainment and leisure is at the forefront, with an infinity pool and sun-drenched alfresco entertainment areas with stunning 180-degree views over the Narrabeen Lagoon.
Garry Greco of Clarke & Humel Property, who holds the listing alongside Cherie Humel, also from Clarke & Humel, said the residence stands out among others in the region.
“This is one of those rare northern beaches homes where scale, privacy and outlook come together in a way that’s incredibly hard to replicate,” he said.
“It offers a true resort-style environment with sweeping views across Narrabeen Lagoon and the ocean, yet with no immediate neighbours, remains completely private and protected – which is exactly what discerning buyers are looking for at this level.”
An auction has been scheduled for Saturday, May 9.
Interior designer lists renovated mansion
Having an eye for design could prove to be very handy for interior designer Elisha Rickward and her banker husband James, who have put their renovated Northbridge home on the market.
It was left to local sources to reveal a price guide of about $13 million as listing agents Alon Beran and Andrew Drury of Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty declined to comment when contacted by this masthead. Local sources believe the couple are downsizing.
The couple purchased the four-bedroom, four-bathroom waterfront residence with mosaic pool and boat shed for $5.4 million in 2015, records show.
Elisha, who is a self-employed interior designer, refreshed the interiors with a new gas kitchen with geometric tiles and statement lighting, herringbone oak floors and cosmetic tweaks including bold pops of colour and patterned wallpaper.
There are glass-wrapped living zones, a dedicated study nook with a bookcase wall, multiple terraces with views over Sailors Bay to Castlecrag, a fire pit and a pool house with wet bar.
Northbridge’s median house price is $4.98 million, on Domain data.
One house too many?
Joanna Spira, wife of Daniel Spira, the chief executive of iNova Pharmaceuticals, has listed one of the couple’s two homes, a two-storey Double Bay abode. Local sources not authorised to comment publicly revealed an auction guide of $15 million to $16 million.
The couple’s other address is a six-bedroom, four-bathroom mansion with a private jetty and deep-water pontoon in Church Point, purchased for $6.8 million in 2022 from James Spenceley and his wife, Viktoriia, records show. James is a former Airtasker chairman.
Spenceley had owned the waterfront getaway since 2015 when it was sold for $3,675,000 by non-executive director of Malabar Resources and former Whitehaven Coal managing director, Tony Haggarty.
The home for sale is a five-bedroom, five-bathroom property with a pool and landscaped gardens.
Built around the 1900s, the abode was renovated by the previous vendors, Will McKenzie and his wife, Alison. Interiors now feature a neutral palette, floorboards, plush carpet, feature walls and chandeliers. There is a covered deck and level lawn to entertain.
The property is marketed on the listing as a prime corner site with development opportunity. There is scope for a six-to-eight-storey boutique residential block or mixed-use complex, under low- to medium-rise zoning framework, subject to council approval.
Alex Lyons and Charlie Davies of Raine & Horne Double Bay declined to comment on any aspect of the listing when contacted by this masthead.
An auction has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 5.
