Driver charged after allegedly speeding 11 times in 17 minutes

A man has been charged after police alleged he was speeding 11 times within 17 minutes in Brisbane’s north.

The alleged offending happened on Zillmere Road at Boondall on December 30, with six of the recorded speeds in the 60km/h zone allegedly faster than 100km/h.

In a video of the officers’ interaction with the driver, police queried whether the man was aware of the speed camera on the road.

“That sort of speed, you’re going to kill someone or yourself, mate,” the police officer said.

The highest recorded speed was 110km/h, police said.

The Boondall man, who was driving a black Alfa Romeo, also allegedly tested positive in a roadside breath test, later blowing 0.092 per cent on a secondary test at the station.

The 57-year-old was charged with driving over the general alcohol limit and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

He was expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 22.
