It was a mixed start for Australia when they played their first round of matches against Norway on Saturday night.

Both Maya Joint and Maddison Inglis were taken out with illness, which meant Storm Hunter had to step up for Australia in the singles.

Hunter played a phenomenal match, defeating Norway’s Malene Helgo 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) to hand her country a 1-0 lead.

Then, Alex de Minaur took to the court against Casper Ruud and lost in straight sets in a match where Ruud was playing phenomenal tennis… it was 1-1.

It all came down to the mixed doubles, where Hunter teamed up with John-Patrick Smith. The duo were able to get the job done in a super tiebreak, which meant Australia won the tie 2-1.

Czechia defeated Norway 3-0 yesterday, which means Australia needs a strong performance tonight to top group D and qualify for the quarter-finals.
