Telstra has confirmed it is “looking into an issue affecting some mobile calls and data connections” but had not identified a cause, given an estimated fix time, or said how many customers are affected.
The disruption began at 3am WA time, with more than 7000 ‘down detector’ reports lodged by early morning and complaints coming from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Canberra and Adelaide, as well as regional centres in Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania.
WA Police released a statement saying the outage was impacting some people’s ability to call Triple Zero.
“If you have a vulnerable family member, friend, neighbour or co-worker, consider offering support during the service disruption,” it said.
