Two people arrested after fatal incident on Carinya Street

An 18-year-old has been charged with the murder of a 28-year-old man who was shot dead in Sydney’s west on Friday morning. He has been refused bail, and will appear in court on Saturday.

Another man, aged 25, is in hospital with minor injuries under police guard after the shooting.

Emergency services found Mal Seve, 28, with gunshot wounds to his neck, chest and leg after responding to reports of a shooting on Carinya Street, Blacktown, about 11.50am on Friday.

Seve was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Police were unable to stop a black Mazda ute from fleeing the scene, and pursued the vehicle before it crashed on nearby Kildare Road. The men allegedly ran from the scene and were arrested a short time later.

As well as being charged with murder, the younger man was also charged with taking and driving a vehicle without the consent of its owner, driving dangerously and failing to stop for police.
