The key time to remember is 7.30pm. That’s when the budget papers are released, Treasurer Jim Chalmers begins his address, and all our reporting from inside lockup is published online.
If you tune in at 7.30pm, you’ll be able to watch the livestream of Chalmers’ speech here in the blog, while also reading our rolling coverage of what he is saying and what it all means. The speech usually goes for about half an hour.
From there, Chalmers will walk straight to the ABC’s Parliament House studio to give the customary 7.30 budget interview.
Then there’ll be a flurry of interviews across all networks by Chalmers and other key government figures. The opposition will also be out in force to provide their initial responses, with shadow treasurer Tim Wilson leading the charge. Independent and minor party politicians will also give interviews.
There’ll be a lot happening, so stick with the live blog to stay across the key talking points from all the important voices.
