A man’s body has been found, and a child is missing after a boat was found drifting in the Parramatta River in Sydney’s inner west.
Emergency services were called to Bayview Park in Concord just before 11.45am following reports of a man’s body being found in the water.
Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command were told the man had been seen in a small boat with a young girl, shortly before his body was discovered, NSW Police said.
The girl was described as about six or seven years of age and had not been found, they said.
The man has not been formally identified.
Police have established a command post at the scene and commenced a search operation to locate the girl.
“Further specialist resources have been requested to assist in the search,” NSW Police said.
