Volstead Repeal, Braddon – SMH Good Food Guide review

Volstead Repeal in Braddon.

Tucked into an alleyway in bustling Braddon, Volstead Repeal serves whisky with speakeasy energy, but in reality it offers far more.

Whether you’re perched in a stool at the bar or settled into a Chesterfield banquette, expect themed drinks (Tarot, at the time of writing) made with ambition by award-winning bartenders: order The Emperor, and whiskey and amaro play off against beetroot and black pepper; pick The Hanged Man, and it’s a spin on a martini with gochujang and caramelised onion for umami and heat.

Prefer your martini classic? There’s a build-you-own guide. Then there’s the 400-strong whisky list, pizza, and a list of snacks that are right on trend, including anchovy toast and Galician mussels with chips and pickle aioli. Look out for events and tastings, too.
