New England Patriots v Seattle Seahawks time, teams, schedule halftime show, how to watch Australia

Though this year’s Super Bowl is being staged in Santa Clara, California, much of the action in the “pre-week” has been anchored an hour up the road in the coastal city of San Francisco. And all of that media noise brought the stars out to play.

The co-host of the Australian edition of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here Robert Irwin was strolling around Radio Row this week, showing off a snake and talking up Australia’s plans to host a Rams vs 49ers NFL clash in September.

For the uninitiated, Radio Row is the “pre-week” media hub in the runup to the Super Bowl, housing hundreds of television, radio and print media outlets, all clamouring to pump up the buzz as America prepared for its equivalent of the NRL or AFL Grand Final.

Among Irwin’s whistle-stops was The Pat McAfee Show, hosted by former professional punter turned sports analyst Pat McAfee. McAfee’s show airs on ESPN, but you can watch his chat with Irwin here:

Other guests spotted around town were Martha Stewart, who was visiting Radio Row, and Kendall Jenner, Tom Brady, Spike Lee, Kevin Costner and Machine Gun Kelly, who attended the Fanatics party at Pier 48, which is the biggest pre-game party ticket in the city.

Celebrity sightings came in far and wide. Legendary talk show host David Letterman, seen talking to San Francisco Sheriff’s deputies in Union Square. Travis and Jason Kelce, who hosted a private party at he Thriller Social Club bar. Celebrity chef Guy Fieri, who was seen filming around the city. And music producer Pharrell Williams, was seen dining out with friends.

Where is Santa Clara?

By Frances Howe

Good question.

In almost-always sunny California and across the bay from San Francisco, Santa Clara is in the heart of Silicon Valley, hosting tech giants and housing staff from the neighbouring Apple, Google and Meta campuses.

A mostly quiet city, and one of the most expensive to live in in America, Santa Clara lies on the ancestral lands of the Ohlone nation’s Tamien people. Spanish colonisers established the Mission Santa Clara de Asis in 1777 giving the city its name. The original mission church building now sits on the campus of the Santa Clara University, which just so happens to be California Governor, and Trump agitator, Gavin Newsom’s alma mater.

Levi’s Stadium is the home grounds of the San Francisco 49ers – the Seattle Seahawks’ biggest rivals.
